When Icon of the Seas sets sail in 2024, it will be the largest cruise ship at sea. Its inaugural season will sail the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Miami. Royal Caribbean has really outdone themselves with this new ship. It offers all of the amazing amenities you normally find on a Royal Caribbean ship but amplified to a whole new level! Read on to learn more about what you can expect to find on board.
Icon of the Seas’ Out of this World Water Park
The Icon of the Seas will feature the largest water park at sea with a whopping six (yes, you read that right) water slides! The slides will include the tallest free fall slide at sea, a family raft slide, and more. This area will also include a ropes course that wraps around the iconic Crown & Anchor logo off the side of the ship.
Seven Different Pool Areas
Going along with the theme of largest at sea, Royal Bay, one of seven pools onboard Icon of the Seas, will be the largest pool at sea. There are so many pools on board you could choose to swim in a different one each day of the week! A few different options for infinity pools are available one of which is an adult only pool. Looking for a swim up bar? Head over to Swim and Tonic for the first in fleet and of course, the largest swim up bar at sea.
Eight Icon of the Seas Neighborhoods
To breakout the layout of the ship, like Oasis class ships, Icon of the Seas has eight different neighborhoods. If you were a previous fan of the AquaTheater, you will have to check out the AquaDome. Located in the front of the ship rather than the back, this theater is now fully enclosed so weather will no longer play a factor on the shows that are done here.
Thrill Island is where you will find the waterpark on board. The ropes course, known as Crown’s Edge will also be located in Thrill Island. Be sure to also stop by and enjoy some Royal Caribbean favorites such as the FlowRider and mini golf.
Chill Island (similar to the one at Perfect Day at CocoCay) is a three deck pool deck which includes four of the seven pools on board. Here you will find Swim & Tonic as well as the Royal Bay Pool. If you’re looking for the adults only pool, Chill Island is the place to go!
The Hideaway is Royal Caribbean’s version of an onboard beach club. In addition to the suspended infinity pool and incredible ocean views, this area will have its own DJ, a dedicated bar, whirlpools, and a multilevel terrace surrounding the area.
One of the newest, most exciting neighborhoods onboard will be the Surfside. With options to eat, drink and play, you could stay all day! This neighborhood is dedicated to young families with things for both parents and kids to do. Kids can check out Splashaway Bay aquapark and Adventure Ocean. Teens can hang out at Social 020 and parents can sit back and relax by Water’s Edge Pool. Baby Bay, Playscape and the carousel will also be located in Surfside!
Like other ships, Icon of the Seas will also include Central Park, the Royal Promenade and a Suite Neighborhood.
