With five brand new 2024 cruise ships on the horizon, cruisers have plenty of reasons to be excited for the new year. New additions include the launching of new ship classes, new record-breaking attractions, and even a new record for the largest cruise ship in the world. From the bombastic offerings from Royal Caribbean, to the subtle elegance of a new Princess ship, there is something for everyone with these new cruise ships. To get the low down on all the new ships being released, from what they offer to when they will be releasing, read on as we break down each new ship that is set to launch in 2024.
Icon of the Seas

Next year will start its run of new cruise ships with a bang, thanks to the launch of Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas in January. This will be the first ship to be released in the Icon class, and it will be the largest cruise ship in the world when it launches, able to carry 7,600 passengers. A bigger ship means bigger and better attractions, including Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea with 6 record-breaking waterslides. The new Aquadome, an 82 by 164 foot space with 600 panes of glass, will be the home of the AquaTheater entertainment venue, as well as RCI’s first food hall called the AquaDome Market. Chill Island hosts 4 of the ship’s 7 pools, while The Hideaway boasts the first suspended infinity pool at sea, rising 135 feet above the ocean. With all this and more, the biggest and best ship from RCI will be setting a high bar for the rest of the 2024 cruise ships being launched!

Sun Princess

Next on the list for 2024 cruise ships is Sun Princess from Princess Cruises. Another ship that is launching a new class for its cruise line, Sun Princess will be the first of the Sphere Class when it debuts in February 2024. This new cruise ship will be exciting for families, offering a lot of adventures for kids of all ages in an area called Park19. This includes the first rollglider at sea called Sea Breeze, as well as a ropes course called Coastal Climb that is an obstacle course spanning two decks. Staterooms are also getting an upgrade with two new types of suites available. The Signature Collection will have their own restaurant, lounge, and sundeck access, whereas guests of the Reserve Collection will have new Cabana cabins in addition to sundeck and private restaurant access.
Utopia of the Seas

As if one wasn’t enough, Royal Caribbean will be dropping the second of its new 2024 cruise ships in July, called Utopia of the Seas. This will be the 6th and final ship in the Oasis Class, and it will start its life on the sea with three and four day trips out of its homeport of Port Canaveral. Fans of the RCI will be happy to see the return of signature neighborhoods like Central Park and the Boardwalk, as well as returning attractions like the 10-story high Ultimate Abyss slide. Utopia will also include a new immersive restaurant, which will emulate the experience of being on a train taking you on a culinary tour.

Disney Treasure

The last of the new cruise ships coming in 2024 is Disney Treasure, which debuts in December 2024 and will be able to carry up to 4,000 passengers. Everything you expect from a Disney cruise will be featured, from appearances from beloved characters, to the rides and attractions of a theme park. The ship will feature an adventure theme and will spotlight Aladdin as the primary character onboard. New venues include an interactive dining experience titled Plaza de Coco (based on the movie Coco, obviously), Jumbeaux’s Sweet Shop referencing Zootopia, and adults-only lounges like Haunted Mansion. Kids and parents alike can relax in princess-themed cafes for Moana and Mulan, or chase thrills in rides like the AquaMouse slide, which takes you on an adventure that stars Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
